Well the solution for you is better ya convert it to JPEG &then apply RAR compression on them.

use an imaging software like *ACDsee or **Irfanview and open the image in present file format. Go to file and click save as . At the bottom select .jpg format and save it.trust me it would do wonders for you.

if you are saving a .jpg or .bmp file just turn down the pixels per inch down to 72, because that is all your computer monitor can display... I would not suggest turning it down if you are going to be printing them or sending them to be printed.
