Start up computer in "safe mode". In safe mode use "system restore" and restore the computer to a earlier time when it was operating OK. If you do not know how to do this, find someone who does, ( a friend, yahoo tech support, microsoft tech support or the computer manufacturer's tech support ). These procedures vary depending on model. Some of these tech support groups are available 24hrs.

THAT WAS ME! Just got your email message > you have given a bit more info in this question than you gave in the email.

The MSCONFIG command and disabling the startup item basically disabled any programs that were running in the background when windows starts and shuts down - obviously one of the programs were causing you this problem

With your description I think you are saying that you get the windows loading page with the scrolling bar then the screen goes black ??

If so - the problem maybe associated with your graphix card/chip - when the screen goes black it is trying to load the drivers and scripts for the graphix adaptor -

Firstly try this - restart your computer > keep on tapping the f5 or f8 key

should display a menu adavanced startup

select the option for LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION

See if you are able to load in windows (this will load the last known good windows registry) - see if this works so able to get into windows

If not try the option f5 and f8 again and select the option for ENABLE VGA

does this load?

If so do this

right click my computer > then properties > then hardware > then dev manager > click + next to display that should show your graphix card - right click and then uninstall

now goto the ide ata/atapi controllers - click on the plus + then right click on the controller > then uninstall > restart your pc > it should then find new hardware and ask you to restart again

see if you able to get into windows -

email me the results or if you are still having problems

Make sure your RAM is in all the way and not loose. Check all the other connectors, like the harddrive and stuff. Otherwise you have burnt out memory and will have to get some new stuff

First you need to do a full scan of your computer. Then defrag it. Then get an anti virus, anti spy program. It sounds like your computer has some viruses and/or spys working in the background.
