We went snorkeling on our honeymoon. The instructor told us all to remove our jewelry to keep from losing it in the water. My wife ignored the warning and lost her ring as soon as we got in the water. I was pissed! She felt I shouldn't have been upset because it wasn't intentional.

I have three questions.

1. Did I have the right to be upset?
2. Should I have replaced the ring?
3. Should I have replaced the ring with the same or similar quality/priced ring?

The ring was not insured...and I replaced the ring the same day we returned from our honeymoon.

Of course everyone gets upset when something is lost but get over it. Your wife didn't want to take the ring off for a reason. Most likely because it meant something special to her to always keep it on. You need to get over it. Things get lost and that is that. Replace the ring like you did and stop dwelling on it.

I wore my wedding ring for over 21 years and never took it off and one day it was gone. I don't know how it happened but I went crazy looking everywhere for it. Could not find. I was so upset I didn't want to tell my wife. I told her and she said I guess we have to replace it. She was not upset at all. The ring meant more to me than her. As she said its a ring and that can be replaced. What we have as husband and wife is held together by more than that ring. Still haven't replaced it yet we are waiting to renew our vows sometime in the future.

Ring is not that important

Do u realize that some women actually cant bare the thought of ever taking off their wedding ring.. some women actually think its a bad omen to do so..

Way to start of your marriage on an non-understanding vibe.. congrats u gone from honeymoon to ur 3rd year of marriage in no time flat.. geeze..

Look she didnt do it on purpose and im sure she's hurting pretty bad about it .. as i know id go nuts if i lost my wedding ring.. but its just a ring.. its something that can be replaced.. with all the things that could of gone wrong snorkling.. as there is some degree of danger.. u should feel lucky it was just the ring she lost.. I think that u have a right to be upset cause of the sentimental and financial value, but ur holding on to things that 10 years from now will be nothing more then a story u tell people to make them laugh....... u love her remember not the ring..
Should u "have " to replace it.. no u shouldnt "HAVE" to u should want to.. as a ring symbolizes ur love for one another and its a symbol that she's a taken woman..

You have hangups on money dont u????? this poor girl has no clue what she married into does she lol.. love doesnt have a price tag and if ur always going to put a price tag on it, u'll be divorced with in a few years.. and then u'll really be paying the price as child support isnt cheap..

U can be upset but don't dwell on it. I know she was told to remove it but she probably thought nothing will happen but unfortunately, something did. Replace the ring since it seems very important to u. U can replace it w/ a similar one if u wish and hopefully next time, she won't be so careless, especially in the water where rings can be easily lost. That's why I take mines off everytime I go surfing.

Well, I never remove my wedding ring, it's supposed to be worn all the time, so it obviously was too big, I have often swam in the sea and never lost my ring. Yes I can understand you being upset, but it was an accident, you should replace it and have a romantic night somewhere when you place the new ring on her finger, make sure it's a tight fit.

1. It's natural to be pissed under the circumstances. However, let it go otherwise it will mar the start of your marriage as well as the rest of your married life.

2. Yes of course you should have replaced it. Do you want her going around without a wedding ring to show she's married?

3. Yes, replace it with the exact one. Go back to the same jeweller and they will do it for you.

Don't ever mention or discuss this episode with her or anyone again. It's not something pleasant to talk about and bringing it up again will not make you any happier.

1. the wedding ring is just a ring. u did not marry the ring, u married the person. so u should not be upset

2. You can replace it if you choose.

you can replace it with whatever u want. The ring does not make the woman.

Why on earth would you be upset, she didn`t deliberately take it off her finger and throw it away, unless you paid a fortune for it, you should buy her a simple band, serves the same purpose...and should she accidently lose it again, the loss would be less traumatic to both of you. I`m sure she was also upse about the lose. What if it had been a life lost instead of a ring !! Put that in perspective.

Replace it with the same exact ring... Yes you have the right to be a little upset.. Its a sign of deep love, and she lost it. But, also if you love her so much as to marry her.. Then a ring shouldnt be needed to signify your love and you shouldnt be all to upset.. Just replace it and go on being happy together..

1. Yes you had the right to be pissed.
2. No, you should have let her replace her own ring.
3. No.
My X lost her ring. I made her by her own replacement. I honestly think it was her way of trying to get a bigger ring. I think she pawned it.
