ok i need your help again all those who answered the question about my sons pnemonia. the hospital sent him home on two inhalers and antibiotic yesterday afternoon, his breathing is getting worse again i have given him all medicine etc and it is not sttling down, my husband thinks i am just being too overprotective of him and that i need to back off but i am worried. if it were your child would you take him back to hospital or wait to see what happens. needless to say my husband has gone on to work and left me to it with three other kids as well.

sorry for those who didnt see my previous question his gp said it was nothing but a head cold and i had to rush him to hospital with severe breathing problems. he is not just as bad as that now but isa similar to times when he had to be put on oxygen machine in hospital. no docs open on sat. just doc on call and he would just send me to hospital anyway as they only deal with minor cases

I did not respond to your earlier question but please PLEASE read this...

You can never be too over protective of your little one especially when they are this age (20 mos) What's going on with your son my be nothing to worry about but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Take him back to the doctor or to the ER~ ASAP even if you have to call your loving husband home from work to sit with the older children & have the doctors run more test ~ tell them to test for respiratory syncytial virus ~ also known as RSV!! Please do not let them tell you it is not the season for RSV because my son had it in late May, when it is not typical. My son who was born 6 weeks early has these same type of symtoms that wouldn't go away when he was just 8 weeks old ~ i kept taking him in because he sounded congested to me, the jerk doctor kept telling me that it was nothing. Then one morning at 5am he heart alram went off & I ran to pick him up & his eyes where rolled into the back off his head he was cold & gray there also was foam type fluid coming from his nose & mouth ~ he was nearly dead!!! I called 911 & they rushed him into the ER where he stayed for 8 days fighting for his life & trying to recover from RSV. He is now 17 months old & very healthy & happy.

oh, it's really hard dragging your other kids to the hospital and waiting. i think, instead, you should call the doctor for advice. tell him that you are very worried. and you are not sure. bla bla bla.

my daughter got bronchialitis when she was 9 months old. and every time she coughed she would gag and throw up everything. i had to keep bothering them and calling them about it until they took me seriously. and they gave me liquid albuterol and antibiotics.

and when you are sick. it always, gets worse before it gets better.

i get asthma really bad when i get sick. have him sleep inclined. because laying down makes breathing harder; it works for me. and have him drink lots of water, i am sure you are already doing that, cuz it helps break up all the phlegm in his lungs.

i think you should wait at least 2 days and just observe him. check on him in the middle of the night, if you are really worried. and after two days, if it doesn't seem to get a little bit better, than take him to the doctor, if you think that is best. asthma, is very serious.

also, i heard that milk makes it worse. i think it makes the phlegm thicker or something. so try avoiding milk while he is sick.

I have a severly allergic kid myself and until they diagnosed him as having allergies..I hauled him back and forth sometimes twice a day... take him to the hospital.. men never worry like mothers do and if your gut feeling is that there is something wrong.. then follow that feeling

Does he have a fever ? What is his respiratory rate? If he has spiked a temperature or his breathing is labored then take him to the ER. Use you're own judgment, not you're husbands !

Your son might have the wrong type of puffer or he's not using it right. Get an AreoChamber with a mouth piece.

You can never be too caughtious, take him back, if you don't think he is getting better. Doctors do make mistakes.
