My parents survived. But then again they were nowhere near it. Cockroaches in my flat can't survive a dousing with hot water, so I really doubt they could survive the heat that would be released at ground zero.

Cockroaches are slightly different from other creatures. You can never totally get rid of them. They may be in an environment which protects them from any other explosion. Besides, there would be roaches far away from the explosion which managed to creep its way into the explosion site in search of food. THey can then colonise the place. You cant get rid of them

A cockroach is highly adaptable to any environment. They can even feed for a week from one fingerprint in a wall.

Cockroaches have a protective shell on their backs that protects them from radiation. It has been said that if we humans were to bomb ourselves into oblivion, the roaches would live on.

they lived in a well protected layer which was not as highly affected by the types of radiation the bomb emitted. they are also less suseptible to genetic change as a result of the radiation to which they were exposed.

roaches are excellent survivors and they adapt quickly. they reproduce quickly and the adaptions are passed to the offspring . their evolution happens quickly. but to sum it up, they have lots of babies quickly and they got used to the radiation.
