i totally agree with " GAUTAM's " answer but u may get the same problem again.
actully this genuin warning is the result of one online upgrades that is installed in by MS online updation service automatically.
if in future u dont want MS OUS to perform (download and install) u should do the following -

rightclick my computer > automatic updates tab > 3rd option (notify me but dont automatically download or install them) > OK

in futur the MS OUS will ask u to select what updates u want to install. so b4 installing u can select ur choice of updates...

This problem arises for U when U validate the copy of xp from Microsoft, Microsoft is trying to put a hold on piracy in this process it's been validating the os key before any updates are to be downloaded from the Microsoft site.
To over come the problem simply u need to reformat the system, and re-install XP again and try avoid using Microsoft site

Many people , when they get their computers assembled from their engineers, dont bother to check if the operating system being installed is genuine. The engineers use just one copy of the operating system for all their customers. The genuine XP comes for a price. Go shopping buddy or else contact microsoft's web site and obtain your copy of Original XP.

You need to speak with the OEM(the people who made the computer). Your version of Windows is failing the MS Genuine Advantage testing. In that state you will not receive security updates so it's something to look at right away. It is possible that this can be solved without reinstalling windows(and clearing everything on the computer).

This happens when XP tried to update. MS determined you, or your vendor, did not purchase a legitimate license for their product. MS is offering a discount on purhcasing the real thing if you will give all the details about where you got your copy.

There can be 3 reasons at least..... 1st. the software is already registered with another user, 2nd. the prduct is genuine but your 25 digit serial no isn't, and 3rd. though it rarely happens-- there is some technical fault in the part of detecting mechanism on part of the MSN.
therefore, do accordingly...

If your copy is genuine you need to download a validation tool from microsoft, and validate your copy, then you will be able to get any updates that microsoft has from time to time.
