If taken literally, this would mean Asterix was born 15 years after 50 BC, which is clearly not the case. (BC goes down 50BC---35BC---0AD---35AD---50AD---2002AD).
But after there is a footnote there is an “AsteriSK” which if you read down says “Before Caesar”.
If you were feeling very literal today, you would think that Asterix was older than Caesar! But what I think is that Uderzo means before the conquest of Gaul, which would make Asterix and Obelix 35. Hans Selles, webmaster of http://www.asterix-obelix.nl agrees with me but adds “But 31 adventures in 40 years means they are 71 years in "Asterix et Latraviata". They still look good in their 70-ies!!!”
This is backed up at the end of the story where it says "And 35 years later the adventures of Asterix and his faithful companion Obelix begin".
