I'm looking for some movie titles to rent. My favorite kinds of movies are those that are funny, or romantic / touching, or those with interesting plots, but not those that wouldn't require much thinking or figuring out (basically anything light hearted!)

Some of my fave movies to date are:
The Sixth Sense
American Beauty
Serendipity
Love Actually
Memoirs of a Geisha
The Lakehouse
Incredibles
Narnia
Shrek

Thanks!

Captain Correli's Mandolin with Nicholas Cage. A really touching movie about the Italian Army and the way they were abused by the Germans towards the end of the war and it contained a love story.

"Dark Water" was a good Ghost story with a happy ending.

The original "Pink Panthe" with Peter Sellers was Hilarious, but not the remake that is full of clips and it was not the original movie.

Coming out is "The Wicker Man" which is a real smeller. Ugh. It is a remake and I cannot figure out why????

"Blood Work" With Clint Eastwood. Has a satisfying ending and it intriguing.

You have to see Birth! It's amazing. Features Nicole Kidman - google it.
Besides that, for a romantic, but very strong movie, rent Vanilla Sky and watch for all the strange coincidences.
Finally, this other movie that also featured Nicole Kidman, she is a Southern girl and the action is set sometime in the 1800's, - ah! Cold Mountain. A bit sad, but beautiful. More of a tear-jerker.
Happy viewing!

You should check out some British comedies, like Waking Ned Devine or Saving Grace. Anything by John Hughs or Chris Columbus tends to fall into the vibe you seem to imply in your question.
