I am appalled at how filbant some are towards this subject. It is a serious problem especially in Third World Countries. To make a joke about "Who else will make my clothes for $1.50 " demonstrates how low some in our society have slipped. I wish the children did receive $1.50 most do not get 25 cents a day and many only receive 5 to 10 cents a day and one serving of rice.
I live in the Philippines and work with the Street Children. More days than not we are going to find children that have been forced into slave labor. I just returned from Thailand where adults are going into Cambodia stealing children and bringing them back to tourist areas in Thailand to sell gum and beg. We find a hundred plus a year that are forced into various types of sexual slavery to accomodate foreigners coming to the Philippines and Thailand. I am told by associates the problem is far worst in Cambodia.
Major department stores in the U.S. are buying clothing from manufacturers they know are produced by child slave labor. Major U.S. Manufacturers are contracting to have their products made by firms they know are using child slave labor. We in the Western World are buying clothing knowing it is made by child slave labor.
Recently we discovered children that were coming to eat out of McDonald's garbage bins every night in Davao, Philippines. Some of these children had worked all day they certainly did not get $1.50. It is easy to find children that have worked all day sleeping on the sidewalks of Manila.
I would support legistlation that made it a mandatory jail term for any corporate executives or owners of companies that contracted to have products produced by child slave labor. Likewise I would support heavy fines for consumers that purchased products that were produced by slave labor or counterfeit products. Many of these children are forced to make counterfeit products.
Until the consumer cares about this problem no one else is going to care. Corporations only understand profit and as long as you buy their products they will continue to take advantage of the children in Third World Countries.

I guess we can't even imagine the dimensions of this problem, it is mostly tragic, and needs an urgent solution, but i don't see anybody do anything. Our world has gone mad...
