Have an oscar who had one of his fins torn up pretty badly by another fish. I've put him in his own tank, but is there anything I can do to help the fin heal? Will it heal by itself?

The fin will heal with time, but you can add salt for freshwater fish. It will prevent infection and speed the healing time.

Buy some MelaFix local petstore and sometimes walmart carries it. A little aquarium salt, dosage instructions on the box. Should heal up, just be sure to keep up with water changes on the new tank he's in.
What'd you have in the tank with him?

Perhaps you should buy some healing products for fish, they are in sales in practically every pet store....or perhaps the fish will heal itself with time.

Sorry, mate. Your friend is a gonner. You cannot repair a torn fin and it will not fix itself. Sad to say...but it time for your friend to head down the old crapper.
