Movies aren't real life. The clothing and casting in movies are chosen for a particular effect, and in the case of underwear, it's usually to titillate the viewers.

I have no idea what color of underwear sells best in real life, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it's something mundane like white cotton.

Not all women prefer black. Black is very noticeable thru light-colored clothing, nude or beige is not. And, you saw it in movies. Movies aren't always true to life.

yes - if you're wearing jeans and the top of your underwear shows, black is less noticeable.
if you're wearing shorts or a skirt and you uncross your legs, black underwear would be harder to notice than, say, flourescent pink underwear.
also, black is the easiest color to keep clean!
and it looks nice too. guys usually think black lingerie looks sexy, although i tend to prefer light blue or burgundy.
