My marriage broke up Jan.2004 my father in law bought the house and holds the mortgage that we paid. My ex continues to live in the house and not paying the mortgage and refuses to sale. Her father wont release me and is holding me liable for payments in arears

You say your marriage broke up...does that mean you are now divorced? If you and your ex were legally responsible for mortage payment during time of marriage, that issue must have been covered inthe divorce.

do you have a lease with him? if he owns the house and there is no lease and your name is nowhere on paper then they cannot do anything .you do need to talk to a lawyer thats the best thing to do.if you have not lived in the house then there is nothing they can do as i said as long as as you do not have your name on any paper work

You need a lawyer. You're supposed to split marital assets.

girl get on your stick..they have been doing that to their partners forever...If you cant do it on your own...I will help. This is so typical of all my friends and my experience so....some
times it is better to let go but if you feel more than that and its true than you need to fight for what is rightfully yours
