How does the phone company tell if the phone has had "water damage"? Do they open it up and check it?

Is there something on the phone that indicates water damage or does the technician open to phone to check?

I see someone says the indicator turns red....but..if it hasn't turned red...can they still tell? That part of the phone wasn't exposed to the liquid...the battery.. was dry..its the inside that didn't survive..AHHHHH!!

I am not ready to destroy the phone..I am and wil not take no's for an answer..LOL...I want to basically know if I can trick the phone company into replacing the phone without me having to tell them there is water damage.

Again the sticker is NOT RED. Will the phone be looked into if the sticker isn't red?

there is a white circle sticker that turns pink with slight moisture, and dark red if its soaked, most new phones have a sticker on the battery that gets a pink or red stripe, but ultimately..... they look at the copper in the phone, which oxidizes to a teal color. We can see it at the charger contacts at the bottom of the phone, and throughout the board if we open it. The stickers just save us the trouble of taking the phone apart.

there is a little sticker behind the battery (on most phones) that turns red when exposed to moisture.

Take the battery off, and then look at the part that is more flat that the prongs fit it. The best way to describe it is, you'll see that m aybe its a little cloudy or different looking...its usually one solid color
