Fail to change a map from read-only to read and write.?

In Windows XP I want to change a map in Windows from read only to read and write, but it changes back automatically. What can I do to change permanently.

Right-click on the file name, then on properties and change the attributes.

Brute-force method: Use the Command prompt, type ATTRIB -H -S -R -A filename.map then press ENTER.
