Belive it or not, I have actually tried on several occasions to get an accurate number on this historic dilemma, and I can;t ever keep from getting distracted and/or interrupted long enough to get all the way to the middle. I think the highest I ever got was something like 250. This ofcourse only counts licks, no immersing the tootsie roll pop completelt in your mouth, even for a second.
