it cant be a ball, maybe its a strike, but over the course of the game, there could be 20 or so; therefore, they have to count it because it would dramatically affect the pitch count

They count as strikes, because the batter swung at them.

Whenp laying baseball you're tought at like age 8 to swing at something even remotly on the factor to the strike zone with a three-2 count quantity. no count what age point a coach would quite have you ever strike out swinging quite than finding. no person would desire to ever be taking all the way on a three-2 pitch.

determining a pitch count is exactly that. It's not balls or strikes, it's number of pitches.

But...if you want to know whether a ball that's hit is a ball or a strike...it's a strike.
