1) As a question
If used as a question is means "What".
Like "What did you just say?" would be "Ima NANTE ittano?"
2) As a statement.
When someone jokingly explains something and ends with "NANTE" then it means something close to ".....as if".
Like "I'd kick his butt anyday.....yea right as if" (toward a tuough looking big guy) would turn into something like "Anna yatsu ore ga buttobashiteyaru.....NANTE".
