When it comes to monuments and notable architecture, Veracruz is not high on the list. But it is known as perhaps the most festive city in Mexico.
Don't expect the nearby beaches to be nearly as good as those on the Pacific or Caribbean coasts.

Veracruz has Lot's to offer good weather food is good Lot's good soups fish of all kinds nice zocalo open air restaurants really good coffee and a big fat cigar in the afternoon tall chicks in the zocalo looking for a roster yes ah yes the good times in Veracruz get on the bus ride to boca Del Rio have a fish dinner then back to Veracruz walk along the wall by the water then on to zocolo for rum and coke or a coffee

The ruins of El Tajin. While they may be not on the same level as Teotihuacan, Palenque, or Chichen Itza, they are still quite impressive and worth a gander.
They also do a demonstration where 5 fellows climb to the top of pole, tie their ankles in rope and descend downward headfirst in enlargening spirals.
