People keep telling me this, but where is the proof? But you would think that after all this time, they could be standing on their own by now, huh? Should we give them MORE money?

NO, NO, NO, I am a person from New Orleans, I don't drink use drugs other than cigarettes and and not into to porn.

The money I received from FEMA went to replacing household items and paying rent for a new place to live in a new city, also we(family of 4, mom dad two kids) purchased a used car , husbands truck was lost in storm.

Paid fees for daughter senior in HS to graduate and got stuff for college re brought new prom dress and new school had senior trip so we paid for her to participate.

I worked in New Orleans for same company for last 13 years was laid off after storm had a hard time finding work moved to area with lots of Spanish speaking people I don't speak Spanish plus I'm from da N.O. so I'm trouble lazy and a thug(their perception) and all I'm gonna do is leave.

This has been the worst year of my life. I'm 40 stable and looking for work everyday. A Chance to prove myself, but its hard if they won't give u an interview.

Folks from New Orleans are not being treated fairly because there were some knuckle heads but there are knuckle heads everywhere. Look at who lives in the White House.

I'm living off the grace of GOD, my savings, my husbands VA Disability and Temp jobs, not FEMA, not welfare(never been on welfare) .
So thank you very much.

I just remember hearing about the designer handbags purchased in Atlanta with Katrina victim funds. I didn't know that anyone would pay over $1000.00 for a little purse. I think most people did the right thing with the funds, like find a new place to live, because they had to. There are always some who rip off the system.

I guess that some are still getting rent payments. They were likely on welfare prior to Katrina. People on disability or whatever will still need help like they did before. I don't think that too many of those were able to stand up and fend for themselves after the hurricane.

There is no proof just evidence. The murder rates and armed robbery rates in Houston surged this past year do to their large influx of Katrina evacuees. In fact, the national crime rate increased by over 2% this last year (largest increase in a decade), and I'd venture to guess it's because of a bunch of displaced low-lives and criminals. Katrina kicked up some dirty dust, and it'll take time to settle.

Granted, these criminals make up a minority, but they do make up a larger percentage of the evacuees than the general US population, which is why we see higher crime rates regionally and nationally.

actually, the problem is that mostly of the people who used their money for drugs and porn and alcohol, were not even katrina evacuees, even worst, they did not even live in the affected area.
that's why they can't stand on their own yet, because the money they were supposed to get, went to someone else.

so which you're from Texas I take it? you have purely seen a tiny component of the entire almost approximately Katrina. i think of you are able to desire to be concerned approximately your business enterprise and enable different human beings hassle approximately theirs. right here in Gulfport, Mississippi there's a housing shortage simply by Katrina. If the human beings who have been made homeless did no longer have their FEMA camper then they could be on the line. coverage has refused to pay human beings for his or her loses whilst they held finished coverage. human beings don't have a activity which will pay adequate to outlive right here. it continues to be a large number. So do no longer choose each and every physique tormented by Katrina as a valueless parasite. it extremely is a small share of the human beings. improve up and open your eyes. New Orleans is suffering too and desires help. those human beings residing there try perplexing, purely like we are. we are no longer on line complaining approximately how no longer common our lives are such as you purely did.

whoever told you that is a liar, ignorant of any facts.
did they talk with every evacuee? i doubt it.
there probably were some who used the money they received this way but there were also some who used the money for food, and clothing.

i do agree that they should be taking care of themselves by now, but there are many people who think that we should care for them forever.

and NO, the governments place is not in providing for people in every disaster.

the Constitution clearly states that the government was formed
1st: To PROVIDE for the common DEFENSE (not promote it)
2nd: to PROMOTE the General Welfare. (not provide it)

To say that the President gave little Aid presumes that it is the Federal Governments job to take care of these people.

1: These People chose to live in an area that they knew was below sea level, and did nothing about it themselves. they kept waiting for government handouts to take care of their problems.
2: People keep saying that they were stuck there and could not get out but, the city had over 4000 city buses just sitting there before the hurricane hit. WHY DIDNT THE MAYOR ORDER THE BUS DRIVERS TO DRIVE EVERYONE OUT BEFORE THE STORM HIT. he knew it was a class 5 hurricane 3 days before it hit.
I guess it was because HE fled the city and left no one in charge.
3: Why didn't the Govenor declare a state of emergency and order an evacuation when the President Called her 2 days before the disaster. (answer: she obviously wanted people to drown)

If people are going to point fingers to fix blame, then they should be fair about it and look at all the facts before they spout their hatred of this current president.
I remember when the Northridge Quake (in Los Angeles) where i live happened and people kept blaming Clinton for the suffering.
How utterly stupid. People who live in earthquake country know it is going to happen. and shouldnt expect the government to take care of them.
Its time people took responsibility for themselves.

No, there are honest people from the Katrina disaster. You are hearing about the bad apples, the ones who will take advantage of situations. If you want to help people, why don't you help people in your local community?

These people were totally devasted by Katrina. They had little help from our president. Their whole lives were wiped out! Nothing left, but what they could grab and take with them. So poor, they had no way, to Get Out of her way. So , you tell me. Do you think they were worried about crap, or worried about drinking water?
