I agree with your general premise but I have to tell you that there are just as many female sex predators as there are males. I know for I was hit on by up to a dozen adult females when I was still in junior and high school, one right in front of her husband !!

The show is commendable but has extreme gender-bias to the max if your "men" means that only males were discussed in the show.

On the surface, it does seem Dateline has done a tremendous public service in working with law enforcement by snagging these really class A dumb guys. As much as I fully support the efforts made, I have to face some pretty tough real facts:

One: Of all these sting defendants, how many are actual hard core child molesters with a few notches carved in their belts? I shudder to think none; experienced child molesters---and they're out there---can sniff a sting a mile away. So, while all this time and money is being spent putting away these dumazzes, the REAL molesters are out there--and Dateline just tipped them on what to look out for.

Two: Why doesn't Dateline feature sting operations targeting FEMALE "online predators"; are we so stupid a society to think there are NONE out there???? From a sociological standpoint, it'd be interesting to see how many Dateline would attract. Gives something for you ladies cheering in this forum something to think about....now, does it???? Personally, I challenge Dateline to give equal time and exposure of FEMALE "online predators".

Three: This is Dateline--a show already tainted by being caught rigging stories and slanting biased facts. Frankly, it amazes me NBC still carries the show to this day. You can bet lawyers for these sting defendants will be quick to point this out, and that is quite enough to sway a jury to allow at least ONE defendant to wriggle free of all charges.

And that's all it takes; one to be found NOT GUILTY because of a legal technical loophole. Much as THAT angers me to see happen, it's a glaring possibility here. And you can bet if one does make it, HE will file a $$$$ lawsuit that will have NBC being posed the question "Deal.....or No Deal????".

Being arrested and humiliated on NBC is the reason why these men do not ask for counsel. In Indiana, most of the defendants have been sentenced to 1-3 years in prison for their conduct.

That doesn't mean that one of them will become smart and lawyer up. A rabbi did just that in the DC suburbs when Dateline first aired these sting operations.

I personally think that Dateline and Perverted Justice is doing a public service and reinforces why I never visited chat rooms since the first days of the Internet. Just as many of you don't know who I am; I do not know who any of you are either. Yet, I maintain my privacy on this forum and I thank Yahoo for allowing me to do so.

What I find most horrifying is how many have been caught by Dateline. If these are the very stupidest sexual predators, how many smarter ones are out there looking for children to exploit? Some aspects of today's society are very sad.

It is shocking how many, from all walks of life, some look like the guy next door (oh my) With respectable jobs, family, some with adequate social skills and all claim that this is the first time!!. And so many have seen the Dateline show!

The first episode had some educational value. The second could also be considered to have some educational value. However, the continuation of this series is nothing more than a sleazy, exploitative attempt to gain ratings.

all predators need to rot in the jails. PERIOD. They do the crime they do the time (and the time they spend in jail ain't long enough), so as far as NBC keep up the good work!
