Your immune system has this 'practice' session on the vaccine, which is far milder than the real illness. If the real influenza virus tries to get in your body later, your immune system will recognize it and beat it right away.

The flue shot contains stuff that is basically a weakend form fo the flue... Some people actually get really sick from it, but it helps most people so they give it to people anyway.

The contents of the shot. They actually inject you with a certain strain of the flu virus (I believe whichever strain is going to dominate each year). They do that so your immune system will recognize the virus and fight it off in the future.

all right answers. Note: The flu doesn't make you feel bad. Your body releases a substance call interferon (sp) which gives you body aches and the flu symptomes. Why would our own body do this? Probably because it needs lots of rest and fluids to fight the disease and if you felt fine you'd be up and about.
