The laptop is a Acer Aspire 1600.
The problem is it overheats in just over 25 minutes and turns off....Have had it checked out and they could'nt find anything wrong with it.
Does anyone else have this model and have the same problem? Help needed please. Thanks.

Two things get hot in a laptop: The battery and the CPU. Both are cooled by air, and the air needs to circulate freely. Check to see if the vents have been blocked by lint sucked into them. You can use a vacuum cleaner to clean them.

When working, place the laptop on a surface that allows air to flow freely. You can also help by propping the screen side up with something so the heat can flow out more quickly.

Sometimes you can turn down the speed of the laptop when you don't need so much power. Maybe using a screen resolution with fewer pixels will help, I am not sure how much heat the video card puts out.

The battery also gets hot. There have been some problems with them lately, but I don't think the Acer has been one of the, but you may have purchased a Sony battery. If you got a Sony Battery, go online to check to see if you have one of the ones that has been overheating. Some of them have caught fire.

;-D I would not want to be the engineer at Sony who messed up those batteries!

Souds like the fan may be clogged somehow. This can happen if you have a lot of pet hair in your home. The fab also could be a lemon. Had that happen on a Dell. Another question, did you overclock your CPU? If so, THAT WILL GENERATE MORE HEAT.

Many friends also have solved the problem by purchasing one of those nifty laptop holders that keep the back open to fresh air and the machine sits at an angle. Any store, such as Radio Shack, Best Buy, or the such can sell you one cheap.

Laptops are notorious for overheating. sounds like you may need a new fan put in it. Don't set your laptop on your bed or a soft surface, that just smoothers it and doesn't allow the heat to escape, you want it to be able to "breath." I don't have or know that much about that laptop, but you may need to call the company and ask them want they can do.

I think you must follow:

1. Check your battery and the fan of your camputer
2. To avoid this the best option is to buy a USB fan, it's no expensive and it's a great idea to keep regrigerate the notebook.
