You should date at least 2 years before getting engaged. That way you have enough time to get to know each other well enough. At that point ask your partner where he sees the relationship going. If you are interested in marriage and he is not there is no reason to continue to stay in the relationship.

Good luck!

It really depends on the couple. My husband and I were dating for a little under 3 months before we got married. Our "engagement" was about a month of that. We just knew that it was right for us. So I don't think that there is anything specific amount of time that is "acceptable". It is a matter of the heart.

the right section truly has to do with the individuals's adulthood and the position they are in existence. i understand those who've gotten engaged after some months, yet they were older, knew what they needed in existence and in a relationship, and were waiting for all the demanding circumstances marriage ought to carry. i imagine commonly 2 years is an outstanding volume, because you get an outstanding idea of even if you decide on to be with someone by making use of then. yet there truly isn't a commonplace. it extremely relies upon on the couple. My fiance and that i have been given engaged after understanding one yet another a year.

In my opinion we should not go around before engagement...... and once we are engaged to a person.we should marry him ASAp. Becoz...i have seen that many people get bored with their parteners......after few months they start going around.....And if you start an affair with anybody..you should get engaged to him after 5 or six months..........means after understanding him...........

My theory is go through all seasons with someone, then decide if you can handle spending more time or your life w/ them. Some people just suck in the winter.

Oh God, no, there's no given time limit.

It could be two years or ten.

Or more or less.
