I always wanted to see one and I have had friends talk about the ones back east. I wonder why we don't have them here. Can someone bring them from one state to another. Would they live?

I live in southern Texas. Growing up in the 60s and 70s we had fireflies (we called them lightning bugs). They are almost all gone now.... I see one every 6 or 7 years at best.

What happened? More intensive spraying for mosquitos.

I don't know if that's the case in SoCal, but you might ask some old timers and see if they remember having them around. Might be too dry in that part of the US, though.

the climate does not support them so importing them wouldn't do any good. it's the cooler climate which keeps them from moving west of the mountains.

Because its to hott and not enogh watter and also theres to many birds so all the birds would eat them since there is a high population in birds here so then dragonflies wouldnt exsist duh! lady iam 12 and even i know that....

they probably would take right off ...caution if they have no naturall predators....thers university sites that specializein insects
