My elderly mother recently got out of the hospital. 4 the past mnth 1/2, I've been watching her & taking care of her. I've not been able 2 get a job because of this. She was found to have COPD & chooses to still smoke. I have to wtch her, 2 make sure she doesn't go outside to smoke w/the oxygen still on. She stays confused. I have to give her meds 2 her throughout the day & I make her meals. I take her to Dr's appt's & I have to sometimes assist her w/bathing. I'm afraid to leave her alone. My aunt told me 2day that she knows some1 who watches their own sister like that & the government PAYS them to do it. My bills are behind, not being able to get a job & all. My aunt said that this lady signed up somewhere (she dsn't know where, that's why I'm asking this, does anyone know where I cld apply 4 this?) & she had a drug test done, background check & the Dr had 2 say her sister needed the assistance. Where could I apply for this at? It wld be nice 2 be paid 4 all I do, if it's possible.

Hello I am not sure what city or state you live in yet if you have a Family independent agency or maybe referred to now as "Your state" Human Service Department (DCH), check with Adult services, if you have to provide Home Chore services to your mother and personal care, such as bathing, groom, oral care, dressing, feeding, mobility, feeding, toileting, they may have a program called HOME HELP SERVICE contact your city DCH and have them come over and visit your mother and they will provide you with a form to have the doctor to fill out saying what is not able to, they will figure out how many minutes it will take to complete certain task, with a month total of hours and may pay you $7.00 PEr hour. The DCH pays me to take care of My adult son who has a developmental disability, when My dad was a live I was taking care of him for 8 years, yet he did not qualify due to the amount of money he had. Also you might want to contact an agency called Senior resources you might have one in your area, If you live where I am city of Muskegon MI, do not tell the DCH you received this information from Me Bob Johnson on line they all ready do not like the fact I been helping people. LOL

Point 1 - Both parents have a responsibility to provide financial support for the child. Point 2 - Both parents chose to have sex; therefore, both were fully aware of the potential of pregnancy occurring. Point 3 - The situation you describe is analogous to the saying, "Don't write a check your body can't cash." In other words, if you don't want to pay child support, don't engage in behaviors that can lead to child support. Point 4 - You wrote, "I think child support should not be forced by the government. The government should make it a voluntary thing to do. Think about it." Well, let's think about it. What would happen if people everywhere had children and neither of the parents wanted to raise the baby? More importantly, what if your parents chose not to provide any support to you? Think about it.

Try your local Dept. of Human Services. My dad is a paraplegic and my mother is his full time caregiver, but since we don't have home health nurse for him, I am paid through some kind of program to help my mom take care of him.We did have to get a doctor to verify and all and we have to redo everything once a year. My da is a veteran so I don't know if this is what made the difference or not, but it never hurts to check all of their programs out.Explain everything to them and they will know whether they can help you or not and what they can do for you.Good Luck!

First I think it is great you are sacrificing to take care of your mother. Second, you should check with Social Security and the Welfare office. I think you are most likely to get assistance from the welfare office, so I would check there first. If they are not able to help you, I am certain they could lead you to where you need to go.

Good luck to you and your family.

I would check with your local chapter of United Way and see if they can put you in contact with these people. Also to see if your mom qualifies for the "Meals on Wheels" program. Also go to www.irs.gov and see if you can download some literature for care of the elderly tax credit.
