Sorry about the bad average GPA, but don't listen to these people. I hire people all the time, and I never check the GPA. Maybe if you want to be a scientist or work for an anal retent who focuses on this- ok. But 99% of applications do not ask or care about your GPA, only that you graduated with a degree in the field of interest.

Even if the subject came up (which I highly doubt) experience weighs 2 to 1 higher in the minds of an employer. If I was you I would put the other crap out of your mind and apply for anything you want... and hold your head up - you have a degree and that is enough.

In general I find it is more a matter of pride or competition between people with a need to prove they are better than you in some fashion. Consider the source and disregard all non-vital information.

PS: I hire regularly from starting positions to upper management and junior executives- so I have some clue what I am speaking about here

First of all, are you trying to get a job while still in college? If so, don't include your GPA on the resume or application unless they ask for it.

But if you are asking what type of work can you get based on your college education, this GPA is a red flag for any savvy HR person. Your best bet in this case is to work towards getting your GPA improved. Then when the question comes up in the interview let them know what you are doing to improve your GPA.

I don't think you are allowed to graduate with a 1.8, but I hope you have a great personality so they don't bother to check your GPA.
