Saint Croix is an island in the Caribbean Sea and a constituent district of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), an unincorporated territory of the United States. It is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, being 28 by 7 miles (45 by 11 km). However, the territory's capital, Charlotte Amalie, is located on Saint Thomas.
The island has flown seven different flags. It was colonized by Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, the Knights of Malta, Denmark, and the United States.

St. Croix is the name of one of the islands that make up the US Virgin Islands. I'm sure than name is also used in several other places, too.
