To be totally honest, looks are important. Many times a guy decides who he will talk to by a girls looks. Granted, once that conversation is started, a guy should start putting more focus on personality. If you think you can't make it on your looks, go somewhere/ do something where your personality will show for you.

well any girl that a guy likes will look good to him, but looks aren't everything and if a guy thinks that they are everything then he is just a jerk end of story.

It is always a plus to be attracted to a girl but for me it's all about how well of friends we are and if we can carry a conversation without it being all polite. Basically not being afraid to be myself with her.
