Use the Quadratic Formula to answer it

2.4x^2 - 9.12x + 0 = 0
x= ( -b +- V(b^2 - 4ac) ) / 2a

a=2.4
b= -9.12
c=0

x = (9.12 +- 9.12) / 4.8
x = 0 or 3.8

It's actually easier to solve this WITHOUT the formula.

I'm assuming you meant

2.4x^2 - 12.72x + 3.6 = 0
240x^2 - 1272x + 360 = 0
24(10x^2 - 53x + 15) = 0
10x^2 - 53x + 15 = 0

x = (-b ± sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/(2a)

x = (-(-53) ± sqrt((-53)^2 - 4(10)(15)))/(2(10))
x = (53 ± sqrt(2809 - 600))/20
x = (53 ± sqrt(2209))/20
x = (53 ± 47)/20
x = (100/20) or (6/20)
x = 5 or (3/10)

ANS : x = 5 or (3/10)

Did you print that out correctly because that's not a quadratic equation. Should their really be an x after the 3.6 or was that a mistake?

If you've written the equation correctly, the equation simplifies to:
2.4x^2-9.12x+0=0

a=2.4, b=-9.12, c=0

x = 0 and -3.8

How nice that folks aren't just doing your homework for you.
Well...
ax^2 +bx +c = 0...
a = 2.4, b= (-12.72 +3.6), c = 0.

What's the problem?

I think it's 2.4x^2 - 12.72x + 3.6 = 0
divinding by 2.4 we get
x^2 - 5.3x + 1.5 = 0
add (5.3/2)^2 to both sides or 2.65^2
x*2 -5.3x + 1.5 + 2.65^2 = 2.65^2
(x-2.65)^2 = 5.5225
x-2.65 = + or - sqrt(5.5225) = + or - 2.35

x= 2.35 + 2.65 = 5 or x= -2.35 + 2.65 = 0.3
