I have been lossing my mucus plug little by little. I am 37 weeks. Today my dr did a exam and said I am still closed a bit maybe a little open but not much but she said the head is pretty far down there. So how long does it take to start dialating enough for labor to begin?

It really all depends on your body... normally you'll really start dialating after your water breaks so i'd count on that.. if you start having contactions then go to the hospital better safe than sorry.. good luck with the baby!!!

Like you I lost my mucus plug a little at a time. I went for a check up 2 weeks before I had him and I was 3cm dialated and the Dr. sent me to the hospital to have my baby. He had to break my water. I would say you don't really have to be that far dialated. It depends on how strong your contractions are. The stronger the contractions are the faster you dialate.

My water broke at the doctors office. She checked the baby and said she was pretty low and ready to go, but I still had plenty of time. She told me to go home, get ready and wait a couple of hours before I go to the hospital. I think its around 4-6 centimeters before you are in active labor.
You could lose your muscus plug ealry though and not go into labor for another week or so. I have known people like that. They lost their musuc plug went up to the hospital and they sent her home after a few hours becuase she wasnt dialtating or anything. She went into active labor about 4 days later.
Hope that helps to answer your question. Best of Luck!

Unfortunatley everyone is different. There is no set time for this all to occur. It could be within hours or if you are like me, it could take weeks! I still ended up having to be induced in the end.
I wish I had better news for you! Good luck

You probably don't want to hear this but it could be as little as a few days to as long as a few weeks. I know you can dilate a few centimeters and stay that way for a few weeks...Sorry
