It can be...the first thing you should do is find a good location. Make sure you have a strategy to get the word out about your salon... eg. word of mouth, flyers, business cards, posters, etc. The key thing about starting a business like what you want to do is..Location.. "find a spot where you have little or no competition"...Customers..."get the word out. If you do not have customers then you are going to be out of business."...Deliver... "Make sure that you do a very good job cutting their hair that way you keep your custees and they in return will spread the word". There is nothing like a good recommendation. Word of Mouth is one of the best advertising tool...!
Good Luck

My daughter is 27 years old and works at a high end salon. She makes approximately $65,000 per year, including tips. I would say that's pretty good. She works 4 days a week, 8-9 hours a day. I think if it's something you like and are interested in, go for it. She is very happy with her job.

It's hard work for not much money. You are on your feet all day long cutting hair. Dealing with customers who are never pleased or satisfied. A percentage of your earnings go to your place of employment unless you rent out a room or section from a salon. You work long days to make enough you can live on.

Depends where you work. Just remember not to spend all your tips in one day since your check will be small.
