Insurance companys require that you have locks on any building that you wish to insure. Even companies that are open 24/7 lock all doors except one after dark or at times when they have a limited staff to customer ratio. To one of the answerers: Waffle House does not close on any holidays.
But for your question:
I worked at a CVS that was 24 hours, but we would close and lock the doors if there was an extended power outage.
Plus, no one sells restaurant doors without locks.
Also, there was a period of time from when the Waffle House was built and when it openned for business that they wanted locked.
And someday the Waffle House will go out of business, and they'll need to lock it up then.

Simple. The answers provided by others are correct. Insurance, etc. But really, just use common sense. Because...why the hell wouldn't you have locks on a door? Seriously. I don't care if you're open 24 hours, don't you want to have the option of locking the doors, if the need arises? You can't foresee possibly having to lock the doors ever?

Because one day the Waffle House will try to protect all the barhopping 3 am drunks from clogging their arteries...but until they can figure out how to use the locks, they'll continue to slowly kill the masses with evil Waffles and eggs....

OK I'll bite......It's to keep the bad waffles from escaping when they are on lock-down. Beacause a bad waffle doesn't know it's a bad waffle. OK Ok the other answers here are correct, but not as much fun.

It's so when you and I are there after going out drinking, we will have something to do while waiting 20 minutes for a table....

because the door is made with locks. the door company makes doors for all companys and not all companys are open 24/7

they close at chrtistmas and sometimes for maintanence and repairs . But im sure you knew that so why waste space with an ignorant question . Oh i know i bet you thought you were being clever or funny . I guess you were wrong

two reasons, staff safety and the law, all establishments must have a lock, exit windows and front and back doors.

Maybe it hasn't always been open 24 hours, or maybe they actually close for holidays on occasion.
