My family is considering moving there and I was wondering how severe their winter was. We are from southern California so any information would be helpful. By the way, Florissant is by Canyon Springs, Colorado.

Florissant is in the mountains west of Colorado Springs, Colorado, at an elevation of about 8400 feet. Florisant recieves an average of 14.92 inches of precipitation and 57 inches of snowfall each year, about the same as Denver. Florissant temperatures average about 10°F cooler than Denver with average daily high tempertaures ranging from 78°F in July to 40.4°F in January and average daily lows ranging from 41°F in July to 5°F in January.

Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is located immediately south of town.

Actually it's west of Colorado Springs ..about 1 1/2 hours away. This is not like Southern California ... there are times in the winter when there is SNOW a few times during the winter ... you will need to get used to driving in it or stay home when it snows. It's not very bad .. it's a good idea to get snow tires with studs for winter driving ... Usually when it snows it will melt within a few days and then it will be cold but nice weather.... I's pretty brisk in the winter ... kind of like Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead area in the winter...

today.... snow. what are you going to do way up there? you'll have to commute real far to work anywhere. canon city - colorado springs

right now, if it's anywhere in colorado, cold. in the summer, hot. all year, dry. very dry.
