Depends.....I have no idea why, but if a woman does not wear a watch, no big deal. However, if you pay attention to men, it's a broad brush, but those who do not wear a watch are unemployed, thus, wearing a watch diffentiates between the two.

I wear a watch...
Especially for formal occasions; it provides a much nicer and more professional image than constantly pulling out your cell phone.
