Lets put this in perspective.
In America, men sleep with men, women sleep with women, men become women, women become men, men want to sleep with little boys, men who are married cheat on their wives, and your worried about what some one will think if you ask them out? You worry too much about too little.
If you have an interest in some one, I don't really care if you let them know it. Might even be flatering. Good luck with that. I th ink there are much larger issues in the world today than you going out on a date.

There is nothing wrong with a woman asking a man out. I live in Canada, where a woman can do as she pleases, as much as a man, and in many cases, much more than many men.
Do what you are comfortable with, don't worry about what other people think. It's your life, live it so that you enjoy yourself, learn, and share your knowledge. What do you think is decent for yourself? That's the real question.

If you like someone and you'd like to go out with them and they haven't asked you, why on earth wouldn't you ask them? What's the alternative? Sitting around for weeks on end hoping that some day... some day... they'll ask you?
Of course there's nothing wrong with women asking out men.
It's quite refreshing to see a girl who knows what she wants!

A woman who has to ask a man sounds desperate to me.

I think she's a decent woman who likes to ask men out. What's the big deal? Especially if the men say yes, then go for it.

Inadvertantly and unintentionally, huh? Yeah, right.
There's nothing wrong with asking a man out.

What culture are you talking about? I live in the US and when I was single I prefered it when a woman showed both initiative and interest.

Good for her!
My first girlfriend asked me out. (I think she got tired of waiting for me to do it. Was very shy at the time.)

I do it all the time. It lets me choose who I get to know. I'm all for it.
