If you like to learn about nature or history, Tv is definately the way to go. I do get most of my info from reading books. I find reading very enjoyable. In the long run, it would all depend on the individual. Watching tv and reading are both necessary to learning. If something catches your interest on tv, you can follow up by reading. Cheerio

In general, I'd say reading, but it may depend somewhat on your personal learning style. Some people learn best by listening, some by reading, and (I suppose) some from watching educational programs on TV. It might also depend on what you are trying to learn. You might learn a lot about oceanography by watching a program on the Discovery channel, but if you were trying to learn how to be a lawyer or accountant, I'd say you have a lot of reading to do.

I tend to remember the information more from tv since it is both visual and oral. I, like you, love Discovery Channel, History Channel etc. You can learn alot from these specialty channels.

Reading, it stimulates the brain. While all TV does is allow you to veg out, it allows your brain to sort of shut down, and not think. Reading, while not as enjoyable to people is more educational and can help you in life years ahead. It is a fact that if alzheimers runs in your family than you should read a lot between the ages of 20-30 to give you more neorons (or something like that) and reduce your risk of alzheimers.

Probably TV, because when I read a book, I have to get very comfortable because you have to flip the pages, and hold the book, and stuff. With TV you just watch and listen. There's probably a lot of bookinistas taht will disagree with me. I feel a lot more accomplished when I read a book, though. I just can't read books constantly like I can watch tv.

It really depends on what kind of learner you are? You watch some good channels with lots of information. But reading is a worthwhile way to learn.

Both.
It really depends on the stuff I have to learn.
For instance about animals and traveling I prefer
watching a film-essay on TV or in the movie-theater.
(Big screen !!!)
But other stuff like history — or history of the
Renaissance-music for instance I prefer to read
in the books — AND hear it at the
same time on my CD-player.
