we have a grey with black lines spider outside our home.

no they are not. The bigger ones typically are not as they use their fangs and stength to kill prey. I would just buy some Raid spider killer (get the strongest kind they have) and kill the spider if it bothers you. Really, garden spiders make for a much healthier garden eco-system and kill a lot of other bugs that would otherwise hassle you. Spiders also avoid humans for the most part and only bite when being stepped on or harassed. I would just let your spider do its thing and hopefully it kills lots of irritating bugs for you.

Spiders are generally not poisonous and it does not matter because most people (those with computers) do not eat their local spiders.

Some spiders, perhaps all of them are venomous. The venom in their bite varies. Your parents really should have told you about the local dangerous critters, but unless you say where you live, it is anybody's guess ....

i have always heard that all spiders are poisoneous.....im not sure if that is true or not.

maybe you can go to a spider websight and find pictures of spiders that look like the ones you have and it will tell about them.
