Most move from West to East (maybe not exactly). Storms form when a cold front (coming from the northwest usually here in the US) meets warmer air and they collide. Some whatever direction the front is coming from will decide the movement along w/ the currents of air (wind).

storms are caused by winds, so i suppose the wind force and direction determines it
