You can learn alot from both of them.
Even watching T.V., you are hearing what someone has written down. Same as reading, only it gives an audio and visual supplied for you.
When you read a book or mag., you have to imagine your own visuals, but you are learning either way.

Reading by far. It alllows you to use your imagination and not rely on visual imaging. TV with great content is highly beneficial and of course it depends on what each person gets from the info they receive. Well read people often tell you the movie doesn't do the book justice and their vocabularies are impressive. Grammatically speaking reading also wins. I love both but I try to tone down my tv by reading and writing more. Reading is also great for children.

people have different ways they like to learn, i believe the best way to learn is find the thing you are most entertained by. When I read I sometimes daydream about other things so i'd have to say i learn more from tv

It depends on what you read and what you watch. Also it depends on how you learn best. Some people learn by reading, some by hearing, some by watching, and some by doing. It is all dependent on the person. For example, I learn best by reading and writing, but my brother learns best by doing things hands on.

I think both. But reading more because it improves speech like grammar and you're using your brain and tv, you're just watching but you can still learn stuff.
