Ok, so I just recently moved here to this state from... another state. In my old state, I had a LOT of friends, because I used to be loud, funny, and yes, i'll admit, sometimes obnoxious. Plus, I was nice. But here, in this new state, everyone thinks I'm "creepy" or weird or something because I'm very quiet. Everyone here is sort of mean... well... they're into that whole, "OMG WE'RE PREPS, NO GOTHS!" thing... (I'm not gothic)... Any tips for coming out of my shell? Oh, p.s.- I'm a teenager, and I'm very self conscious- I think that I'm ugly, talk funny, etc. etc. Plus, I'm a freshman. What am I supposed to do to raise my self-esteem?

I love these kind of questions!

Ask yourself why you have gone from loud to super quiet. Which one is your real personality? Stick with the real one because being fake is too hard! Freshmen can have a hard time because it's all new, but you can still have a good time in school. Who told you that you were ugly? Who said you talked funny, etc. ? Did it come out of the mouths of people who don't know you and don't care about you? If so, junk it! It's a lie!!! Don't change your speech for people! Once you start, you lose who you are!! Look your best for you, not others. Find a hairstyle, clothes, etc. that compliment the gifts you have. Keep it real, be open to good friends, be confident in the fact that you are a worthy human being and the friends will come. Stuff is just new right now. It won't be so bad after a few months when you learn people and your school. Enjoy!

I used to have the same issue when i always constantly changed schools. Im a really shy, quiet person so what i did was just work up some courage and say something to someone. I'll ask them their name or something and start up a conversation like that. People take my quietness as being arrogant and full of my self or being weird, but i prefer to stay to myself. If your normally loud, funny, nice and sometimes obnoxious then just be that....yourself.....and being a freshman isn't that bad :)

Go to the gym for 2 years and pump iron. Come back to school. Point your finger at different people and yell "I command you to be my friend"

If you walk around feeling self conscious you will appear self conscious, shy, timid, unapproachable, different... If you walk around feeling confident you will appear confident. It's all in the attitude, Sweetie.

be yourself and think they are stupid not to want to be your friend. They are the ones who are missing out.
