When I punch in my Dad's name in the county he died in (trying to get death certificate)I get 0 results. I have his birth date and aprox date of his death. I am positive of the county. Why would 0 come up in the records online from the county?any suggestions on getting this info without spending a fortune? Thanks, Anna

If he was a US citizen then you can get the information from Social Security for free.

first you need to purchase birth certificates for both your parents. they will name your grand parents. Then you get the birth certificate and marriage certificate for your grand parents and their death certificate if necessary. And if they are available you get the birth, marriage & death certificate of your great grandparents. That is how you find your family tree. You start with you and move backwards.

Go to Ancestry.com, they will let you have a free trial. I did it and I was able to find everything I needed before the free trial expired. Good luck!
