I'm 14 years old, and since I was 12 I have been interested in working as a psychiatrist. Any tips for good colleges, what it's really about, etc. etc.?

Well that's what I am working towards and its not always easy.
The first thing you need to decide is whether or not you want to be a psychiatrist or a psychologist.
psychiatrist make more money, they have to goto med school and more than likely they never visit with their patients, they just hand out meds.
psychologist make less money and spend less time in college but they actually visit with their patients and help them resolve their mental issues.
I love the courses I have taken and the information I have learned. The human mind is a interesting place. I actually go to a small private university and love it because the classes are small and the professors actually care what happens to their students.
When I was younger and still to this day I noticed that I was the one that all of my friends would come and talk to about their problems and I loved helping them.
Definitely go for it....this is one career that you will never get bored with because every patient is a different and interesting case.

> suggestion to turning out to be a psychiatrist < prepare, study and be Open. i've got regular some Psychiatrists and function met some greater, and that they are as lots a mixed bag as are in Society as an entire. Like Psychologists (those whom I knew years in the past), neither then undertook any form of 'clinical care' with relation to their selves. The 'issues that have been human have been all academic and had not something to do with their lives' ~ as they have been above such concerns. many times conversing, those Psychiatrists I knew I tended to in contrast to of their 'closed' worlds. although, in view that then, issues would possibly have replaced, a era has moved on and departed, and what's left and what's going to are available in selection to.....! So, individually, from my attitude, prepare, study & be Open (and not 'close Down'). Sash.
