It's kind of a complicated situation
Background factors:
- The girl who's having the birthday party is my roommate's girlfriend
- I've been friends with her since about 7 - 8 months ago
- Lately she's been annoying me more and more (it's just that I have a certain limit on how much annoyance that I can supress from one person before it really bugs me, and that limit hit about a week ago)
- The party is going to be in a different state, so it's not like I can just slip out after an hour, I'll be there all night.

Factors that's going to make it difficult to get out of it:
- I already said I'm going to go
- It's going to be in about a month, so I can't say I already have plans for the weekend
- My roommate is a good friend of mine (if he wasn't I'd just tell him I hate his girlfriend and don't want to go to her party)
- I'm not good at lying my way out of these types of situations, so I would need a damn good excuse that's not easy to screw up.

Any advice on getting out?

Are there any tests following that weekend?

You need to have a work excuse that suddenly came up and you can't get out of. That usually works for me. Or you can say that you need to go home to visit your parents that weekend because your grandma/aunt/cousin/what ever will be there and you haven't seen her for a long time. Or you can start like a few days before and say some thing like, "I feel like I'm getting sick" and then a couple days later say, "My throat is kinda hurting," then the day of the party stay in bed all day and look like hell and say, "There's no way I can go to the party, I need to go to the doctor," and sound really disappointed. Then watch them all leave and have a nice night to yourself! Problem solved.

First, if you don't want to go, just don't go. Tell your friend that you forgot an important event in your family. But buy her a nice gift. Say sorry and wish them a nice trip. Life is more than just a party, and friendship are more important than little things. If you choose to go just try to not be around her and enjoy the night, like everybody.

Explain that you really don't want to go and you have other things to catch up on..but tell your roommate now..don't wait for the last minute. You really shouldn't have to explain yourself...just in a nice way, tell him that it would be a good time to either visit a relative or to maybe redo a room in your house/apartment.

I would tell you to say that you got grounded, but you obviously sound like you're over the age of 17... =]. Just wait for a while, (like, 1 day before) and say that you are really sick, and that you wish you could go, but you would just be a total drag or contagious.
