I tried my representative David Dreier and senators Boxer and Feinstein and couldn't even get them to respond to this idea.
Every taxpayer needs to demand from our representatives that they at least survey our opinions and debate openly before rubber-stamping the Israeli Lobby's request to continue our three billion dollars a year rearming of Israel that we've been doing for over 30 years.
Their indiscriminate use of our cluster bombs is still killing and maiming people in Lebanon, which recruits more suicide bombers for Hezbollah and Hamas.

You've got a billion-plus people in mostly-Islamic countries wanting to destroy Israel and its population of less than 20 million. Israel has nukes and would probably use them if necessary. It's the new Cold War, if you think about it--the principle of "mutually assured destruction" is the de facto defense policy for Israel if anything beyond conventional weaponry is detonated over in the Middle East. Further, if we don't keep Israel armed, that country has enough enemies that would be happy to move in for the kill, and Israel would gladly retaliate with nuclear weapons if it felt it was necessary for survival. And never mind what would happen to the world economy if the Middle East REALLY breaks out in war and oil prices go higher than any of us want to imagine. So while political purists say that we're just propping up Israel as the bully of the Middle East, the big picture is that we're keeping things from getting really, really, really bad. Really.

There are groups everywhere who should receive letters from you. Congressmen had been blackmailed for having mistresses and other misdeeds. Many were deliberately set up with cameras and microphones so that the Neocons could expose them one by one.

To keep the misdeeds from the public, some in Congress vote the way they are told by Neocons and as much as they want to, Congressmen are unable to respond to you because of that. Clean Congressmen need your support. The others should step aside because of their mistakes.

People in the Gaza strip are starving. There needs to be a groundswell of feedback from citizens on the atrocities that are currently being committed by Israel. Make flyers and place them everywhere to begin the process of barring tax dollars from going to Israel. Israel is bombing and blocking food from going to Arab populations. The objective is land acquisition. Get to work!

Congress DOES survey the opinions of the American people: it's called voting! The way it works is: we go to them, they don't come to us. The best and most effective way you can make your feelings known to congress is by voting. If you're against money for Israel simply look-up the voting records of your state representatives and senators; find out who voted for the funding, and then vote against that congressman in the elections that are held every two years.
Congressmen DO telephone surveys periodically, by the way, but it is usally only done right before election time, and is done so they can tailor their campaign strategies accordingly.

We send billions to countries that hate us and want to destroy us. We might as well support a country that actually LIKES us, like Israel. They do what they actually have to do to survive and don't care what others think of them. They're not the terrorists. If it was up to Israel, they'd live in peace, but it is kind of hard to do when every other country surrounding you wants you to be completely destroyed and not exist. I

The only time congressmen even pretend to care about the opinions of their constituants is immediately preceding election time. While we elect them the problem is we don't fund them and our opinions have very little to do with the decisions they make FOR US!
