Great batting average, and great fielding, Jeter is definitely in the race for MVP, but we'll see how the votes go.

Me, you can't give it to Ortiz, cuz their what 12 games out of the lead. You can't give it to Dye, during these last 6 games, he has done nothing when they needed to win the game to stay in the hunt. If you are a valuable player, you help your team win, that would mean you have THE MOST VALUE. Morneau is a good option, but Mauer is not, he only has his batting average everything else SUCKS.
So its down to Morneau and Jeter. I would pick Jeter for the following reasons: The Yankees have the best record in baseball right now, even without Sheffield and Matsui for the entire season (they came back like 5 days ago). Cano missed half the season, and ****** has been sucking asss at the plate the whole year except now. Throughout all of this, and their pitching woes, they have managed to stick through it and be the best team in baseball. Why? Because of their captain. Derek Jeter always gets a hit, remember that 24 game hit streak. When you need someone to start a rally, he is most likely the one to do it. In Boston, Papelbon had struck out 2 and Jeter came up and proceeded to get the game-tying RBI. He has been the MOST VALUABLE player on the Yankees, and if you stuck him on any other team, he would still produce. Now he may not get as many runs since he wouldn't have Giambi right behind him, but he would still get 15-20 homers, 30 steals, and about 80 RBIs. Not to mention he goes all-out all the time IN THE FIELD!!!
Any voter who picks against Jeter should be smacked.
JETER FOR MVP!!

Morneau or Dye, depending on if the White Sox made the playoffs. At least they deserve the award seeing how Morneau is playing in a pitcher friendly park and Dye has phenomanal stats and fielding skills. Jeter is on a good offense and I dont think a lot of people understand exactly how little of an impact Matsui and Sheffield had. Lets see who else the yankees had this year...ummmm...Alex Rodriguez, Bobby Abreu and Jason Giambi. Those are three cleanup hitters not to mention the hitting of Jorge Posada, Johnny Damon and Robinson Cano (at least later in the year). Thats still one of the best lineups in the majors even without Derek Jeter. THE YANKEES NEVER NEEDED HIS HITTING!!! If you look at the twins with a bleak offense, Morneau is incredibly important! In short, Morneau should win MVP but he might not because the press loves that overrated and overpaid shortstop.

I do. Even though he doesn't he homeruns can puts up HUGE numbers like Ortiz, he is probably one of the best players that don't do the HUGE stuff this year. (There's a reason why he bats second, and not clean up) He can do every liitle thing to win games. He can steal, hit to any field, had a 25 game hitting streak (did Ortiz have a long hitting streak this year, oh right . . . NO), and made stellar plays at short (did Ortiz play anying defense . . NO, unless you count the interleague games).
Mauer would probably be Jeter's only competition. (Dye and Ortiz wont make the playoffs) And a this point Jeter deserves it more.

Derek Jeter has been the Captain of the Yanks for a reason and having his best or one of his best offensive seasons of his career. If I had a vote I would have to seriously consider Jermain Dye of the White Sox and Justin Mourneau of the Twins. Not Big Slopi, Not the Big Shirt in Oakland either. I want the MVP to be an EVERYDAY player. No lame DH if they played at least half of their games at a position and the other half at DH then I would consider them.

jeter has to be the MVP...the 2 Twins player should play in New York to see the pressure that is put on them...ask A-Rod...he knows...he comes though in the clutch...he makes web-gems everyday...he runs as hard as anyone down first base to beat any grounder...he run the bases like no one esle...he can use the entire field...and he is a captin who know how to deal the pressure of the fans and media
and yes he has a good lineup but Matsui and Sheffield when out (and whoever said that they arent a factor is stupid and need to watch baseball....Sheffield and Matsui bring in at least 100+ RBI and 30+ homeruns...and have high on base percentage) A-Rod has no been himself and Giambi and Cano are the only other players who can be counted on...and melky too...soo he is my MVP

I definitely do!!
It's not just about how many home runs they get,
it's about all-around play.
Jeter comes through more often than not.
