HOW CAN I FIX THIS?

Its supposed to, if the flame stayed on the entire time you would burn your stuff inside. the gas is hooked to a thermostat which keeps it at a certain temperature, But if the flame goes on and off quickly then you have a bad thermostat and should get it replaced. also check your exhaust hose and check for blockage, a clean dryer on the inside will last forever. you should clean the lint trap every time you use the dryer or it will build up inside the dryer and cause you problems.

Make sure your exhaust is clear and make sure that the vent is clear, too. A clogged exhaust might cause exhaust fume back up, triggering an oxygen sensor to kill the flame. A clogged vent might cause hot air to accumulate and cause an overheat sensor to trip.

This is so the dryer will not overheat. It's supposed to do this

Clean the nozzle well.
Ther may be dust on it.
