On the one hand, women are empathic & can be great supervisors. However no human is perfect; each sex has it's foibles. That includes some women supervisors & my answer is below:
YES!!!!! Women are group animals-they lived, bled together & took care of each other in caves for millions of years. Be a minority in a mostly female office & you will find the truth. If one of them doesn't like you, normally they get the rest to stop talking to you?
However there is ALWAYS one woman who will
buck the trend & stay loyal to you. Women make the best friends & no where is this more true than in the office. I choose ones who are direct & are honest. Besides they make the day go by faster & liven up the place!
As for women supervisors, they better at hiding their sexist feelings. I've had several who didn't have a college degree. When the owner of a company congratulated me in front of them, those female supervisors STOPPED TRAINING ME! But continued to train the new girl.
On the other hand, I've had GREAT women supervisors. Sometimes it was my bosses boss. Strong yet feminine, they walked the corporate high wire act. Dealing with the big boys so to speak & often exceeding them in empathy & kindenss (while still demanding excellence.)
Sometimes I have seen women supervisors fire much older guys just for the fun of it! They would continually force a fight...because they did not like the look, clothes, accent or other? of the guy. They'd laugh with other women in the office...right in front of the guys.
I'd hear them plotting for hours with the other women. I tried for years to figure this out. Tried being nice, etc. The only thing that works is just do your job.
Again to balance this prejudiced post of mine, there was S & women like her. Anyway the office with S-the majority were women & they were sexist. But S, being my supervisor, would have none of that-even though the worst offender was her cousin! She took care of me, exceeding in training, patience & humanity.
What did I do? I took control by volunteering for a project & doing extra work. Then I got a better job offer & left that company.
But I will never forget S or C (another company) & women like them. Or the loyal ones...this is a secret guys...but dogs are not a man's best friend...the right woman is. Oops going off subject.
But how many are lucky enough to get a fair boss? I guess power corrupts and it doesn't matter if you are a woman or a man. But it sure helps when you are a woman & automatically have extra labor laws and get a free lawyer.

Yes, women can be just as discriminatory. This does not negate the fact that there is an unequal patriarcal system that oppresses both men and women as well as other genders, and sexes that are not male or female.
Before you give me a thumbs down, I invite you to follow the two links below. There are the willfully ignorant who find it easiest not to know in order to feel as though the don't need to take any responsibility for what is happening in the world today. And there are those who know they have the power to change he world, and actively seek questions, as well as answers, including many different perspectives.

Of course, they are human. Probably more so. From what I have read or seen ( I could be mistaken ) women have a harder time climbing the corporate ladder then men so when they achieve a position of recognition they may tend to feel compelled to be tougher on the people they are in charge of to show that the position was earned on merit not appearance or gender preferential treatment. It could also be they feel they had earned this position a long time ago but the person with the kickstand was given it first for having a kickstand. Not to mention, women for the most part are more vicious and hold grudges longer than men usually do (mind you, not always true).
Blackshield, do you always suffer from this much paranoia?

Dude as with all sexism you have to prove it. Its very hard to do, and there are a million different interpretations that can be put to a comment and a many lame excuses too. In what way though? It is, you feel, just becuase your a guy or is it assumptions about you, your competance etc they make? or do you think they are just man haters for no better reason than maybe they went out with a bad guy? That IS a crap and awful reason to hate the whole male race and I feel ashamed these women are carrying on this whole war of the sexes saga, its pathetic and I suggest you avoid them as much as possible....................some women (about 10%) can give the appearance of being sexist and it makes me cringe.....as if they can argue for equal rights from the place theyre in?? it makes me cringe but dont give into it and become sexist yourself in response, their behaviour is Wack!!!!!!

Yes. And why not. I mean we are human.
And we do make mistakes too... But we are
more charming at least.
