I heard from a cow that their herd comprises of more than three. For two is just a pair, and three is a trio, so if what I heard is correct then it can't be hard to define a herd...it must be four or more. Although, their herd said they heard from the herd in the next field who said it was something to do with bullocks...but that sounded abs-herd to me!
