I wanted to make documentaries. Then I grew up and realized that I actually wanted to have steady work and be able to pay my bills. What about you? What idealistic dream job did you want as a kid? Even if it was something crazy, like dictator of Brazil.

When I was little, I had it all planned out...I was going to be Sleeping Beauty at Disneyland and the Sleeping Beauty castle was going to be my home.

A girl can dream right? :D

Around the age of 11 or 12 I decided that I wanted to become a writer because I loved to read. But, once I got to high that dream began to fade. I decided I was interested in psychology which is what I majored in college. Stayed in college for six years because I didn't know what I wanted to do. Then, I went to seminar a career counselor was doing about jobs social science majors can get jobs in. His suggestion was social service since most people who major in these subjects are interested in working with people. I decided that I this is what I wanted to do because I wanted to make a difference and do something rewarding like helping others out.

Well, I work in social service and I don't regret it. It doesn't pay well- I make less than a starting salary for most teachers. But, it's personally rewarding.

I would like to return to school to get my masters in counseling in the next 1-2 years. But, I recently started dreaming about writing maybe not fiction but I have always had it in the back of my mind.

after I were given out of school, I had 4 opportunities for a occupation a million) end chippie 2) racing engine builder 3) deal with the kinfolk horse farm 4) smooth place of work pastime even with the way it seems, all the first 3 were available i determined that the pony farm will be mine eventually besides, and there changed into no desire to hurry... #2 does no longer be as a lot relaxing if it changed into my pastime, so i began education as a end chippie.. Then my horse driving better 1/2 stumbled in this pastime on the commercial company for me which qualifies as #4. it truly is not any longer my dream pastime, even with the indisputable fact that it is going to pay properly sufficient that i will celebrate with the different 3....

I wanted to be an OB but then I realized I can't afford medical school.

I also wanted to work with children, then I had a child and realized I have a temper and it won't be FAIR for me to work with kids when my own ticks me off sometimes. :-)

I also wanted to be a vet or nurse but then I don't like sticking people or animals with needles.

Then I wanted to just be a pet groomer, but then I realized there is SCHOOLING with THAT too! I can't afford to go back to school right now so I will just sit at my Wal-Mart job and make 9.75 an hour until I have time (I have a 20 month old) and money to pay for school.

I think I will go back to do taxes, I will still work for Wal-Mart until I am old and gray probably but in the tax season I can back off from Wal-Mart and do my other job and when the season is over go back to Wal-Mart where the customers treat you like scum. Oh well, kill them with kindness is what I have learned. When they want to snap your head off still smile and say "Have a nice day, ma'am!"

:-)

I first wanted to be a doctor, but then I found out I would have to go to school for 7 years and I hated math.

Then I wanted to be a teacher and I had a huge green school chalkboard in my bedroom. I used my old textbooks (we had to pay for them so we kept them) and I played teacher with my stuffed animals as students.

Then I wanted to be a music teacher.

Then when I went to college I decided to become a secretary.

Now in my 40s I'm returning to school to become a Human Resources Employment Specialist. My goal is to help people get into the right jobs based on their talents.

UPDATE: You are never too old to return to school!

also, i wanted to make movies. like u.
but now i know its pretty impossible. besides. im too freaking old already. 27, sheesh.
yes, it was idealistic. but i suppose when we was young, dreams of anything being possible, were possible.
but now, reality creeps in and we just slowly sink in. i hate myself.
