We have been fighting for a month, and he's tried to kill me twice. But, I think we've turned a corner with this. Alright, well, I'm just going to go to sleep and think about it some more. Hopefully I'll have some good ideas in the morning.

As i am from india I don't have insight for the significance of a wooden horse as a gift. But for me, a gift is a gift.
(As the proverb goes, don't count the teeth of a gifted horse !!!!)
just thank him plain & simple. be good to him and thigs will get better. Gift him some thing he cherishes. show him you have put a foot forward to resolve the problems
you can't be happy fighting your neighbour. fighting will not solve any problem rather it aggravates problems.
be happy and kind to others and your life will be more enjoyable.
after all, it is your life you are interested in. isn't it?
hope your neighbour also realises and your two can be friendly.

A, I don't know but a...have you ever heard of a place called Troy? Some people called Trojans? A big ole wooden horse and bunch of guys inside it?

Just thank him and thank God that you are at least trying to get along, you never no who you will need in life. If you just want to do something, wait a while and then go get him something. Make sure that is all that was to the horse. If he tried to kill you, I am not sure of what the problem was, or what part you played in it. But be careful, and take it slow.

Send him a statue of a big wooden cow, preferably one that is twice the size as your horse, and moo's incessantly.

ok, knock on the horse three times, and a hidden door should open inbetween its crotch and stomach, tell the people inside you are late for the ambush, then analyze the scerario, leave to take a "bathroom break" and get them all when they least suspect it
